About
“We start each day new”
This has been my mantra, that I have used for my work and life in recent years.
My work is personal and has been a narrative of my journey as an artist. As my practice has developed I’m more interested in the process of making now. My work is a direct response to life, my own environment, conversations and relationships. When I’m “lost in making” I’m often reacting to thoughts that have followed me into the studio. I’ve now returned to colourful abstract paintings, but I started out over twenty years ago as a figurative sculptor and painter.
In current work my focus is on the layers of colours and words to make each piece. They have been described as diaries or self portraits. I just see them as a way of processing what I see and hear each day as an artist. I have no set plan each day when I step into the studio, only to make.
Over the past twenty five years I’ve exhibited in the UK and internationally. I’ve had a number of solo exhibitions and been part of many collaborations, group exhibitions and projects. The last seven years have been a huge gap year for me, to focus on my family. I’m now building a new body of work and returning to art projects again.
Studio visits are welcome but strictly by appointment only. If you would like to visit please contact me. I’m happy to discuss any collaborations or possible projects via email.
