A layered text painting that I made while thinking about identity and where we are in life. I was thinking about the words “You are here” then thought about if you rearrange them, Are you here? here you are? the questions go on!
I think that identity, heritage and where you call home is an interesting subject. The questions it opens up can change or make you as a person.
I don’t usually use other people quotes on my work, but I do love the work of Maya Angelou. I might never do it again, but I collaborated without calling her office. I did put her name on it though, it is a beautiful quote.
